Planning a wedding, an event or a shoot in Melbourne? Here are the answers to the questions I get asked most. Anything else, just ask.
Weddings
Where are you based, and where do you shoot weddings?
I'm based in Melbourne and I've been filming and photographing weddings here for three years. I shoot all over Melbourne and Victoria, from city venues and Fitzroy Gardens to the Yarra Valley, the Macedon Ranges, Phillip Island and the Great Ocean Road. I also travel for weddings interstate and overseas, including India.
Do you shoot Indian and multicultural weddings in Melbourne?
Yes, it's a big part of my work. I've filmed Indian, Sikh, South Asian and Asian weddings as well as classic Australian church and garden weddings, and plenty of days that bring two cultures together. I grew up in India, so I know the rituals, the timings and the moments families care about most, from the haldi and mehndi to the pheras and the reception.
Do you do both wedding photography and wedding films?
Yes. I shoot both photos and films, so you can book one person for both, or just the one you need. You can see examples on my Wedding Films and Wedding Photography pages.
What do we get in a wedding film?
Your wedding film covers the whole celebration, every event, in a film of around 30 minutes. You also get a short trailer to share, and a highlight film with a glimpse of every event. I can also give you the full ceremony and the speeches as their own edits, plus all the raw footage.
How much does a wedding cost?
Every wedding is different: the hours, the number of events, photos, film or both. Tell me about your day through the contact form and I'll send you a quote that fits it.
How far ahead should we book?
Please book at least six months before your wedding, especially for spring and summer weekends in Melbourne. If your date is sooner, ask anyway: I'll tell you straight away if I'm free.
When will we get our photos and film?
Your photos are ready within 15 days of the wedding, your trailer within a month, and your full wedding film within two months.
Events, brands and content
Do you film events and concerts in Melbourne?
Yes. I make event films, after-movies and event photos for concerts, cultural nights, festivals and launches in Melbourne, including Bhuwin Experience at the National Theatre, The Yellow Diary's Australia tour and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Can you make brand films and social media content for my business?
Yes. I've made campaign video, photos and social content for EPA Victoria, Deakin University and Magnet-Me. Whether you need a launch film, a run of reels or a full day of content, I can plan it, shoot it and edit it, ready to post.
Do you shoot fashion and portraits?
Yes. I shoot fashion films, lookbooks, editorial portraits and personal branding in Melbourne, and I've photographed Bollywood and Punjabi film stars Sonam Bajwa and Mandy Takhar here.

Who is Shekhar Rawat?
I'm a Melbourne content creator, filmmaker and photographer with over six years of experience. I completed a Master of Film and Television at Deakin University in 2026, worked as a Digital Media Advisor at EPA Victoria and a Digital Content Officer at Deakin University, and I've been lead photographer for Rohit Jhawar Photography.
What languages do you speak?
English and Hindi, so I can talk easily with both of your families on the day.
